To The Beginning, Again

December 30, 2016

Well. Here we are. The beginning of something new yet something all familiar and wonderful. It probably sounds strange to some of you I'm sure, but it feels really good to be back. I missed this. Uninterrupted time with just myself. Thank God for synchronized naptimes which allow for this!

Since we're sort of starting over I thought that maybe we'd go back to the beginning, give you a little taste of what I'm all about. Fill you in a bit on some things you may have missed, something you may not know. So, here goes.

I'm Stormy. I'm a twenty something year old by age but much older by soul. It astounds people when they meet me because I look not a day over 19 (makes for some great teen mom type glares when I'm shopping with both kiddos!) but when I talk with people they swear I'm much older than my actual age. Go figure.

I grew up in a tiny town in Wisconsin. Well, in the country outside of said small town but that's just details. I was the goody good type all of my school career, working hard on good grades and avoiding troubling situations (at least most of the time). In high school I was apart of the dance team and when I graduated, five different choirs. I can't carry a tune to save my life though these days and my toddler often tells me to "stop" because I'm "hurting his ears". Kids...

I wished greatly to be a teacher while in high school but realized that around here the job potential was like, null. So on a whim I applied for nursing school. I wasn't sure it was really what I wanted to do but it seemed like a challenge (getting accepted) at the time and I knew it was a promising career field. Four years later I walked across the stage, in a bright blue cap and gown and received my diploma. Two months later I sat for state boards and passed - I was an RN! Passing the boards also meant I couldn't stay working under my previous credentials, as a CNA so I became unemployed real quick. Funny how that works.

In those crazy stressful years of college I (re) met my husband. I say re-met because I'd actually known him since I was a wee little girl. He just wanted nothing to do with me at that point because I dressed funny and ate sand. True story...on both accounts. We "re-met" via social media when I already had a boyfriend. That current relationship crashed & burned real quick which actually turned out for the better, because Steve was also single at that time. We started hanging out and talking on the phone constantly and became "official" about four months later. We've been pretty much inseparable since that day and while there are moments we wish we could run away, we're never apart for more than a day or two.

We married about four years and three months later, in September 2012. It was the most gorgeous day out. Sunshine, laughter and surrounded by so many wonderful people. It was literally a day I replay in my mind over and over again. We left a few days later and spend a blissful week on the beaches of Mexico, a first time out of the country for the both of us.

We'd talked about children but never really a timeline. So, that little positive sign came as a complete shock just two and a half months later. I was speechless all day long at work that day wondering how in the heck I was going to tell my husband when I got home for the day. Much to my surprise he took the news far more calmly than I did. I'd dreamt of being a momma, but when the time came it brought up loads of anxiety and fear. We welcomed our first son, Garrett into the world in August 2013 - just three(ish) weeks before our first wedding anniversary. He came into the world handsome, with a full head of hair after a scary delivery which resulted in the pediatric crash cart being wheeled into my room. I should've know then that life with him would always be full of adventure!

At that point we where living in a town with over 42,000 more people than our hometown. And we hated every minute of it. We had worked our tails off renovating a home and when it sold we jumped up and down when it meant getting to move out to the country, back to our hometown. Finally, the country life we'd wished for! In March 2015 we packed the trucks and moved back home to our 2.5 acre lot which quickly was dubbed "The M Homestead"

In the midst of the whole having a toddler thing, finishing/listing/selling/buying a home I was also working full time as a Medical/Oncology/Cardiac nurse and running my Young Living business. My business really took off (sometimes faster than I could handle!) and I nailed Silver level in February 2016. Oils are great & they smell wonderful but the changes they brought for my family and friends has been INCREDIBLE! Literally-life changing!

As if life weren't busy enough we had another positive pregnancy test just mere weeks after agreeing to a second baby. We waste no time huh?! Pregnancy the second time around was far more difficult and there where moments when we where down right scared for our baby. Thankfully, by God's dear grace we welcomed our second child, Gannon, in March 2016. Perfectly healthy he was born a near twin to his big brother. It was love a first sight for all of us!

That brings me to today. Today I am a mom of two (three years & nine months), a wife, a full time Medical/Oncology/Cardiac nurse and a Silver leader/trainer & oiler with Young Living Essential Oils. Most days I want to pull my hair out at least a time or two. I skip meals more than I care to admit. Chug more cold coffee than I'd like. I rub myself full of Stress Away and Joy by the rollers. No exaggeration there. I sometimes hide in my room to eat doughnuts. Lock myself in the bathroom for three minutes to check my emails & social media for some "adult" time. And my definition of a good date night is dinner, one (maybe two) drinks and returning home to be in bed before ten o'clock. I yearn for peace and quite but the minute I'm surrounded with it I miss my chaos and noise.

I am so, so excited to be back here. I can't wait to get to know you all a little better and to continue sharing my story.

Resolutions

December 29, 2016

I've never been a resolutions sort of girl. I think that's mostly for two reasons...one being that I really feel like many things that people hace resoultions for should be year around goals. Not just goals that you put a ton of effort and thought into for a few weeks only to have them fizzle away. The other reason being just that, I'm a fizzler. If I put too much thought into something I tend to get overwhelmed and then I loose focus and interest in it. I know this about myself so to avoid that I simply put a focus on important things through out the year.

I tuck extra money away when possible to build up our savings. I convince myself to pass on the doughnuts every now & then in attempts at some weight management.

This year though is different. This year there's something I know I need to work on. Something I know I need to change. For my sanity and the sake of my family.
This year I need to work on me.

I have realized lately that as much as I love being a mother I have 100% lost myself in the process. I get less than four hours of sleep every night, only eat as time allows and am constantly going without for the sake of my children. I don't regret a minute of it but over time it's really started to wear me down.

That's what this little revamp is all about. I loved the blogging world. I loved the community and the support behind it all. I loved connecting with other moms who where in similar situations and knowing that somewhere out there, some one knew exactly what I was going through. I miss having something that was just mine. A space. Some solid quite time with just my thoughts. I miss it all.

So, I'm here. In attempts to grasp some more of me, myself. In attempts of holding myself accountable for taking better care of myself. In attempts of making 2017 as much about me as it is about my boys, my husband & my family.

What are you resolutions for the year? I'd love to hear about them & to help support you in them!

Revamp

December 27, 2016

I'm busy doing a little construction over here so I hope you don't mind! I've got a few things in the works and decided I needed a new, clean space to do that in.

I've got to finish putting in codes and gettings things together but I'm excited about this new adventure! I'm hoping to get to know all of you a bit better so to start, if you're reading tell me a bit about yourself!

Gannon: Nine Months

December 18, 2016

I have to admit with Christmas and the lack of motivation to do anything this whole nine months thing really snuck up on me. Like caught me out of nowhere. I fully can't believe Gannon is 3/4 of a year old and the days just keep flying by. I honestly makes me want to stand up, wave a little flag and holler "slow down! slow down!" I quite recently was thinking about how behind I am on life and more specifically, documenting Gannon's life. His baby book is hardly filled out and these monthly updates are usually a frantic 15 minutes one afternoon that end in Garrett misbehaving somehow and me dripping with sweat. Such is my life these days.

Update: Talk about changes this month! Just when I thought month eight brought tons of changes he goes and changes again on me!

Stats & Recent Appointment: We don't see the pedi until the end of the month, for his nine month check. My energy levels just don't allow for attempted home sats this month.

Features: I'm really starting to think we've got a mini me after all! Gannon's hair is so, SO light compared to what it was and his eyes are definitely looking more and more green! I'm super excited about the possibility of a little mini me but also a bit bummed because he and Garrett looked quite a lot alike for awhile there and the little "twins a few years apart thing" was pretty adorable as well.

Teeth: Teeth! Teeth! Teeth! We have four these days and boy does he sure love to use them! There are little bite marks EVERYWHERE these days...including on my fingers and hands!

Sleep: We're getting into a bit more of a routine and for that I am grateful! Gannon takes a bottle about 6pm and is full of snuggles until he falls asleep, around 7pm. He sleeps in his crib, on his belly. He wakes around 2am, has another bottle and generally falls asleep by 3am (if momma is lucky!) He's up then again around 5am for another bottle and sometimes falls back asleep for a short while. He naps around 8am for 30-60 minutes. He'll nap then again around 11:30/12:00 for 1-2 hours. He gets extremely fussy then again around 4pm so he'll sometimes take another 30 minute nap then. We've been trying to cut that one out though, in attempts at better sleeping at night. Garrett has also consistently been awake around 12am meaning I never get more than 2.5 hours of solid sleep...and let me tell you, it's getting to me lately!

Eating: We still do a bottle about every four hours and he'll drink 5-7 ounces each time. We started more of a baby led weaning thing (as we did with Garrett) and he is LOVING it! The other night I cut up a few elbow macaroni and mixed veggies and he was in HEAVEN! He couldn't shove the food in fast enough! He loves puffs and yogurt melts as well! He also was super spoiled and momma let him have a (unfrosted) Christmas cookie...let's just say that he wasn't giving that up at all!

Diapering: Size fours

Clothing: Size 9m, 9-12m and 12m in nearly everything these days. I sometimes can squeeze him into a six month shirt if I really want but pants are where we definitely have to size up! Even his 9m seem to be short which relieves me because he's always measured SO small for height.

Social: My littler watcher of the world! Gannon is simply not content to miss a beat and you'd better make sure to keep him involved! He loves to smile and "talk" to just about anyone and he plays a mean game of peek-a-boo. It's quite cute honestly. When I'm holding him he'll smile and talk with someone for a bit and then bury his head into my shoulder, all shy like. A minute later he'll peak up and do it all over again. Freaking cute.

Nicknames: Monkey, monkey butt, squirtchunk, big boy, little love, Mr. Magoo, Gannie, Gan-Gan, Gannie Mc Fannie

Likes: Eating, bath time, being outdoors & his big brother! Music, anything electronic & being able to see the world.

Dislikes: Being warm, sitting still, having his hair dried, getting dressed, sitting still, being stationary in his car seat & getting his face wiped off. If you really want to see him squeal take something away from him...you'll hear him roar then!

Gannon: Eight Months

November 30, 2016

Whoa! Whoa! Am I ever late with this update huh? Life has been SO chaotic lately and the lack of sleep has REALLY been affecting me lately so truth be told...my life is sort of falling apart. One little micro at a time. I'm trying to hold it together...get ready for the holidays...run my Young Living business...make it to work on time everyday...find a daycare...pay bills...and entertain the kiddos and lately I just can't seem to do it all AND keep my sanity. I keep reminding myself that "this too shall pass" and some days these ever lasting days of exhaustion will be over...someday.

Taking photos of our little peanut sure is getting more difficult and this month was a HUGE challenge! He wiggles, giggles and is FAR more interested in being on the move. So...month eight photo is a little lack luster but it shows the stage we're in perfectly.

Update: Talk about on the move! He is not a sit still child, much like his big brother! He's crawling, wiggling and standing (sometime on his own) ALL the time now and there's no slowing him down! He loves to play chase with his big brother and hearing his little giggles and hands pat the floor as he crawls nearly faster than his knees can go is adorable. They really are the best of friends.

Stats & Recent Appointment: While we don't see the pedi until the end of the month, for his nine month check I attempted some home measurements on day. While they never seem to be very accurate I weighed him at around 18.2lbs and he was about 27.5inches long. He's definitely still our peanut, based on measurements as Garrett had measurements comparable to those around the age of five months.

Features: The crazy, curly hair continues! Ha! It certainly is lighter these days and his eyes are starting to look more green than blue...can you say momma look alike??

Teeth: We almost have a tooth!

Sleep: Naps are fairly consistent and if we get a little off schedule he turns into quite the little bear. Generally his first nap is around 8am/8:30am. He'll nap for about 30-45 minutes at that point. His afternoon naps falls around noon and he generally naps about two hours then. He'll nap then again for 30mins to 1hr around 4:30pm. Bedtime however, is another story! We'd been doing pretty good most nights (only up 1-2 times) until the nasty teething monster made an appearance and now we've been up nearly all night, every night. I've been averaging 1-3 hours of sleep per night (I'll let you just imagine what kind of mood I've been in...)

Eating: Well, I may breed non-sleepers but they sure are good eaters! Gannon will eat almost everything you give him, though veggies are NOT his favorite! He still has a bottle about every 4 hours, 4-6ozs at a time.

Diapering: Size fours.

Clothing: We're outgrowing our 9 month stuff so we've moved into 9-12m and 12m clothing!

Halloween 2016

November 16, 2016

Halloween 2016 is a prime example of how my life is in complete disarray at this point and time. In fact, if you where to ask me leading up to Halloween what the boys where going to be my answer was for sure "I have no freaking clue" because I didn't. It wasn't until Saturday...the very day before trick or treating that we ventured to find costumes. It was also then that I learned something...if you want a variety to pick from don't wait to costume shop until the day prior.

Thankfully, by God's dear grace there was plenty of Spiderman costumes left. Garrett had changed his mind a bunch of times but about the week before Halloween he came up with Spiderman and was insistent that's what he was going to be. I nearly lost my mind when we walked into Target to find a ridiculously small handful of costumes left as I knew there was no way, not one that we where making it out of there alive if they didn't have a Spidie costume for Garrett. Let me tell you, the wrath of my three year old is real and true and something to be feared.

For real.

Luckily, Spidie seemed to be in excess this year so we had no issues there. Our issue came for our littlest, Gannon. I searched and searched racks but found not a single costume for him. Not a single one. It wasn't until I nearly admitted surrender that I found the cutest little bluebird costume tucked in the very back of one rack.

Thank God!

The bluebird costume was made for 0-6 months so I was concerned it wasn't going to fit. We rushed home to try both of them on and literally breathed a breath of relief when they both fit, just fine.

Trick of treating was Sunday around these parts. Steve and I actually snuck away for the night (see yesterday post to swoon over the most gorgeous building EVER!) so after picking the boys up & a quick nap we threw on their costumes and headed out.
I'll be honest and say that in the 45(ish) minutes we walked Garrett was excited and into it for about 10mins...tops. He was more into walking along for awhile which turned into stroller riding after some time. He had a little cold brewing at the time and I think that was really tuckering him out. Gannon (of course) was far to little to understand but did fully love the time outdoors! Any bad moment in that boy's life can be made better by two things...going outside or a baby carrot.

No lie.

So, we headed back to the truck as it was a bit chilly out that day and both boys where just over the whole trick or treat thing. We'd gotten plenty of candy (as we don't  actually let Garrett have candy all that often (our small handfuls are bound to last us quite some time...even with my sweet tooth in the house!)

In other Halloween news...

I made sure to keep tradition alive and stuck Gannon in a pumpkin. He actually didn't mind it for quite some time and then was rather content to chew on it. When we told him that he couldn't chew on it he started pouting which led to a full on scream...then the baby in a pumpkin was over. Ha!
Speaking of carving pumpkins. Garrett refused to help scoop the goop meaning I had my hands in WAY more pumpkin goop than I bargained for. Steve won the carving contest (per Garrett) as he carved Spiderman which turned out to be Garrett's favorite. We let Garrett pound a nail in a pumpkin, which made his day as he's a bit little to play with the carving knives. He told me next year he'll be big enough to "cut my own pumpkin". We'll see little man, we'll see.

And, for a few more of my very favorite Halloween photos...

A Night To Ourselves

November 15, 2016

Steve and I had been trying to plan a little get away for awhile now. After one failed attempt we where more desperate than ever for a solid night's sleep, a hot un-interrupted meal and a chance to lay around in bed in the morning. We're really not hard to please are we?

We'd talk about different places we could go which kind of makes me laugh because every time we try and figure out somewhere to go we end up at our favorite spot, The Audubon Inn.

The Audubon holds a special place in our hearts as it's where we held our rehearsal dinner and where we stayed the weekend of our wedding (and our wedding night). It's in a tiny little town about a half hour south of us with a whole 5,000 (ish) people in the town. It's small, quite and absolutely quaint. If I had my way I'd likely live there.

It was sold a few years back now and the new owners have been making large improvements...revamping the restaurant, adding in an outdoor patio, theater and such. It certainly looks a great deal different than it did back then but I do have to admit that I love the improvements.
My parents agreed to watch our non-sleeping boys and we dropped them off after naptime, around 3:30pm. We headed straight to the hotel where we where greeted with champagne as they'd remembered we got married there. Steve showered quick while I got ready for dinner. I have to tell you...the food at their restaurant is INCREDIBLE! We have NEVER left hungry or unsatisfied! We started dinner with drinks (Hurricane for me and beer for hubby) and fresh brick cheese curds. So amazing! Steve choose the Atlantic Salmon with wild rice covered in an cauliflower-chickpea thai curry. I ordered the Red Goat flat bread pizza which was AMAZING! It had a red sauce, garlic, sun dried tomato, red onions, mozzarella and goat cheese. Talk about rich and divine! I was stuffed after just a few pieces. We ordered dessert to go - New York Cheesecake with Italian Amarena cherries for Steve and fresh, handmade Pear Sorbet for myself. We dropped that in our room and headed out for a little walk.
We enjoyed our desserts while watching a movie and dozed off after a little romance 😉 The next morning I love laying in bed until 8:30am followed by a long, hot, un-interrupted shower. Talk about making me a happy momma! We packed our stuff then and grabbed breakfast on the way back to my parents. While we would have loved a bit more time to ourselves it was Halloween and we had some little cuties to get ready for trick or treating!

Hey There, Hey!

November 14, 2016

There's many moments where I think life couldn't get any more hectic...and then it does. Truth be told, I love it though. I'm loving this season of life even though it brings WAY too many sleepless nights, stressed out mornings and all. But those silly giggles, crazy toddler stories and sloppy kisses sure make up for it. Garrett and Gannon are becoming SO interactive with each other that it really makes me glad we hopped on the baby train again, so soon. I love knowing that they'll always have each other. And through out life they'll never be too far apart in life events.

In other news. We've really been soaking up the warm parts of the day lately as it slowly gets cooler and cooler. Gannon's snowsuit and hat made their way out as it's simply easier and insures that he's toasty warm. We're struggling with the nude-obsessed toddler in the house though. He NEVER wants to wear clothes but because it's getting cooler he seems to know he has to...so he's slightly agreeable...to shorts and t-shirts! Crazy kid! He literally ran outside one day at 38* to play in shorts and a t-shirt. Then promptly turned around and came back inside saying "momma it's freezing out there!"

Well duh.

Gannon is becoming more and more mobile which just stuns my momma heart. He's crawling, standing and even walking along furniture. How'd that happen so quickly?! Before I know it he'll be running right behind his brother! He also has the CRAZIEST head of hair! He's lost most of his baby hair on the sides and in the back and it's SP straight in those areas but the top is SO long and curly! It makes me laugh at least ten times every day.

Gannon: Seven Months

October 18, 2016

Well it's official. We're on the downwards slope to the year mark. How in the heck??! This month has been a whirlwind of growth, changes and far more sleepless nights than I cared for. While I'm hoping that it improves soon I'm being honest with myself and realizing I may never sleep more than 2-3 hours a night again...ever.

Update: Talk about handsome! Seriously. I make adorable children. I know I'm always saying that but my heart SWELLS every time I look at them...I love them that much! Gannon is on the move, growing fast and making himself known lately! Let me tell you, he is NOT going to be a second child in the shadows! This we know already! He's developing such the personality and while he's such a lover (slobber kisses for days!) he sure can be a firecracker too!

Gannon is proving to be a man on the move and DOES NOT SIT STILL! He started crawling on Sunday, October 2nd while home with Daddy and Garrett and hasn't stopped since! A few days ago he started attempting to stand next to things (the TV stand, his crib, our sunken living room step) and has succeeded a few times now! The look on his face is adorable as he's SO proud of himself. I wasn't quite ready for him to be mobile, especially SO mobile but he's not going to stop for nobody! He makes a beeline for his favorite things the minute you set him down and I've already heard "Hey Gannon! That's my toy!" a few times from big brother. Luckily, Garrett is good about distracting him with a more infant appropriate toy before ripping the toy out of his hands...usually anyhow.

Stats & Recent Appointment: At six months our little peanut weighed in at 17lbs 9ozs (50%) and was 25.5inches long (8%). His head was 43cm (37%). He continues to rank small on the growth charts though does have a good growth curve. His height is something that still make me nervous with the short femur worries that we had while pregnant but his pedi seems to think he'll be just fine. Looking back it's hard to believe that Garrett weighed over three pounds more than Gannon does at this point. Having had a child who consistently ranked in the 80th and 90th percentiles it's strange to have a "smaller" child this time around.

Features: Do you see that hair? Literally his hair makes me laugh everyday. It's so short and straight in the back and on the sides but the top is SO long and most of the time, curly. Where did the curls come from? It's certainly looking light these days and I'm secretly hoping it turns blonde. His eyes are really starting to seem a bit green too so maybe I'll have a mini me after all?

Teeth: I think there's one a comin'! The bottom, left side seems like it's making it's way! We've been keeping a stash of teethers chilled in the fridge as he seems to LOVE them! Clove oil on his gums has also seemed beneficial and a little Lavender and Peace & Calming allows him to get a little bit of sleep.

Diapering: Size threes & fours. We have some threes that we use during the day, to use them up. For naptime and bedtime he wears size fours.

Clothing: I'd washed the 6-9 month and 9 month stuff as the weather was getting quite chilly and my smaller stuff was for warmer temperatures. There are a few 12 month things he's been wearing as well.

The song "Wheels On The Bus", anything electronic & being able to see the world.

Dislikes: Being warm, sitting still, having his hair dried, getting dressed, sitting still, being stationary in his car seat & getting his face wiped off. If you really want to see him squeal take something away from him...you'll hear him roar then!

Happy 32nd

October 9, 2016

We started dating way back when, you where just 23. The years have brought some ups and downs but we've managed to make it through them all.

We have created homes, careers, businesses and two amazing & handsome lives. Though some days test my heart and patience I am grateful for the time we've spent together and the days that are ahead.

Happy 32nd birthday hunny. We love you!

Gannon's Birth Story

October 5, 2016

Gannon is over six months old now. Creeping seven months if I'm completely honest. It seems like an odd time to be posting his birth story I'm sure but in all honesty this one took some time. I don't mean time to type...but more time to heal from. With all the concern my last few months of pregnancy brought I wasn't sure how to feel about Gannon's birth day. I just knew one thing...I couldn't wait to hold him. To see his precious, perfect self with my own eyes.

Let's back track just a bit though. For those of you not familiar with our story...I'd wanted a second child for a long while. My husband on the other hands wasn't so sure. Eventually he felt ready (right about the moment I'd decided we should wait...of course) and Gannon was created a mere two weeks later. Talk about fertile Myrtle huh? Coming from a girl that was told she likely would never be able to have children I was SHOCKED when it happened so quickly.

This pregnancy, his pregnancy was far more rough on me than our first. I had horrible, panicking cramps the first 14 weeks. I had morning sickness which persisted all day. Each day brought bouts of dizziness and lightheadedness starting early in my second trimester. When we finally reached the third trimester I was feeling a bit better, mostly knowing I was in the home stretch. Enter my 33/34 week appointment where our world turned upside down when major concerns arouse concerning Gannon's development and size. Suddenly we where faced with a potentially scary diagnosis, concerns and more doctor appointments than we cared.

We worked through that in time and after being assured (and reassured) by our fabulous maternal fetal specialist that Gannon didn't carry any genetic disorders we where relieved! That happened sometime between our 38th and 39th week bringing us right to the wire. I (& Gannon) was diagnosed with Intrauterine Growth Restriction and it was deemed medically necessary to induce and deliver baby asap as his growth trends where on a constant decrease from week to week.

We where given a list of potential dates and settled on Friday, March 18th.

That morning I hugged Garrett tightly as Steve loaded up my hospital bags. We drove the short drive to my parents house, dropped Garrett off and headed to the hospital. Stopping for breakfast on the way. We made our way to the Women & Infants unit, checked in at the desk and where brought to labor room #422. I remember the nurse, Sam asking on our walk there "How are you feeling?" I replied "Nervous, just nervous".
I changed into the fabulous gown, signed mountains of paperwork, had an IV started, lab work drawn and started our antibiotic, penicillin due to testing GBS positive.
My doctor stopped by around 8:30 that morning. Checked and found me to be 50% effaced, 2cm dilated and at -2 station. The heart rate looked great at 132. She advised us to get started with Pitocin. About 22 minutes later our nurse started the Pitocin and it was increased by 2 about every ten minutes. My doctor came back around 11:22am for another check. We'd made a bit of progress at had dilated to 3cm and effaced to 60%. She broke my water at that time.

By that time my contractions where strong, super strong. I was handling them a bit better than I did with Garrett as I knew more what to expect this time. After commenting a few times on how strong they where it was decided to increase my Pitocin only by 1 going forward. By 11:53am my Pitocin was running at 13. That really, really got the contractions going even more so we decided to leave things be for a bit. When my doctor stopped by again later (12:43pm) I was still 3cm dilated, effaced to 70% and baby had come down to -1 station. We turned the Pitocin up by 1. She joked saying "You know...it is Friday. If we could deliver this baby by 4pm that would be awesome for my schedule right?" We laughed knowing that our boys like to take their sweet time coming into this world.

My nurse came in joking a bit later saying "Let's see if we can get things moving with this little man huh?" I laughed. The Pitocin went up to 16. With that increase my contractions where unbearable. I hadn't wanted an epidural but I knew that it could very well be a long time before delivery. We paged for an epidural which was placed around 2:15pm. With a little adjusting and a couple bolus doses (which nearly ended up being a bit too much!) I was more comfortable.
I was checked again at 2:56pm and found to 5cm. My doctor had mentioned to me that with the second baby, 5cm is the magic number and things usually speed up around that point. I believed her but settled in for the long haul, resting on and off. I figured if we followed the timeline of Garrett's delivery I still had about five more hours or so...

It wasn't even an hour later when I lifted my head from the pillow saying to Steve "I think it's time. I'm feeling that pressure!" We paged our nurse who came rushing in. It was shift change and they where in the middle of report. She checked me quick and stated "Well! I guess I'm going to get to see this baby before I leave after all!" I was 10cm. It was 3:38pm. My doctor came rushing in, again joking "well you took my 4pm thing pretty serious huh?"

After they where all set up. We began to push. Just two short contractions later Gannon John entered the world at 3:52pm. He was handsome, perfectly perfect and had a full head of hair...just like I'd hoped! In that moment my heart swelled nearly right out of my chest. It was then they placed my second (oh so tiny!) miracle on my chest. I was instantly in love.
And, like that all the worries of the past few months fled from my mind.
We where fine.

He...was fine.

Five On Friday

September 30, 2016

Hey there friends. Once again it's been awhile huh? No shame. My barely keeping my head afloat these days and literally have had some "crawl in a hole" days as of late. Gotta love anxiety and depression! I'm working through it though, and we seem on the up ward swing of things...so here I am!

There has been so, SO much happening lately and while posts about every little detail would be great...it's just not happening these days. So, we'll stick to a little update...maybe five on Friday style.

- One - I'm mum obsessed! Steve had gifted me the most lovely purple mum last year and I stuck in the ground, not sure if it would come back. Much to my surprise it did and it's gotten quite large and lovely! I had purchased a few more this year, for pot décor and they've been covered with blooms for weeks already. This one though, that I planted is covered in buds which showed no signs of opening. Much to my surprise I wandered over this morning and found the littlest specks of purple! I can't wait to see it covered in purple blooms!

- Two - As I mentioned above, life's been a struggle lately. I've suffered from some anxiety for years...since my college days at least. I think I've perhaps always had some depression thrown in there to but lately that seems more apparent as well. I think a large part of the issue is that I haven't slept more than a few hours a night in weeks and weeks. Garrett is going through some issues himself and has been up nearly all night, every night. About the minute I finally get him back to sleep Gannon is awake and then my alarm goes off. Fabulous. Needless to say, my coping skills are far from great at this point and it's in moments like that where my anxiety really grabs a hold of me. Thankfully, I have my oils and they have been working to calm & mellow me out a bit. I've been rolling this roller on repeat for the past few days now but it's been so helpful!

- Three - Can we just talk about this fall thing for a minute. I totally dig fall. Mostly because pregnancy made me 100% intolerant of any sort of heat. So, I'm super amped that fall is here but it seems like our "nice" fall days will be few and far between! Between the chilly temps, rainy days and crazy insane mosquitos we haven't been able to enjoy it all that much yet! Here's hoping there's plenty more days to love before that nasty white stuff flies!

- Four - Another recent obsession? LulaRoe! Why had I not discovered this sooner? Honestly? I'm obsessed! In further thoughts it's probably good I hadn't learned about it sooner (read bank account doesn't like it). I've ordered four things so far and love them all! And, I've gotten a little lucky and one was free and another was $10 off! Um, hello deals! The tops I'm wearing in the above two photos are two items that have been delivered so far...an Irma & a Randy. Love them both! If you'd like to be a part of my online party just lemme know! The girl I'm hosting with has AMAZING stuff!!

- Five - I told Steve earlier this afternoon that I'm either pregnant again or stress eating but that he shouldn't complain either way because my tush is in full cooking/baking mode! Yesterday I made beef roast with veggies for dinner and two kinds of cookies for dessert (pumpkin cheesecake & apple oatmeal). Tonight I'm making homemade chili (with fresh veggies from our garden) and cornbread. Dessert tonight? Double chocolate chunk peppermint brownies with ice cream. Ummm. Heck to the yes! So, so amazing! The house has smelt INCREDIBLE the last two days! And, my belly is full. So full!
