Friday's Letters

August 31, 2012

Dear Wedding: How in the heck are you in just 15 days? Time FLIES!
Dear Work: I'm irritated with you for scheduling me six days this week when I only should have been scheduled four! Looks like I'll be doing a 50+ hour week the week before my wedding. Oh joy! #nothappy Dear Amber: Thank you for being my bff for the past 7 years and for always being supportive. I'm super excited for you and the new boy toy and I'm praying hard that this is the one! I want for you so badly to have nothing but happiness in your life. Dear Kaitlyn & Amanda: Thank you girls so much for being the best wedding crafting helpers in the world! Dear Wedding Hair Do: You gave me a dreadful headache yesterday. I'll be sure to pop Ibuprofen the day of the wedding! Dear Fiance: I love you so much and can't wait to be Mrs. M! Crazy to think that this is where life brought us! Who would have known when we met 15 years ago that we would someday be planning our wedding?

I Ain't Sayin' She A Gold Digger

I mentioned my photographer predicament here
and thought I should update you all.
I received SO many kinds wishes, words and advice
following the prior post and I'm SO thankful for each of you!

So, I emailed Michelle just letting her know that I had checked out Vince's work and I wasn't crazy about it. I knew it wouldn't be easier for her to find a new photographer a mere 18 days before the wedding and all but I just couldn't go forward and then be disappointed in the photos we received.

She emailed me back stating:

"Wow, I am so appreciative of you!  I am very glad you are speaking up - being direct, but also sweet as you are.  :)  It makes me so happy when my clients are this way, because we can communicate well together and come to a good solution!  Thank you so much for letting me know your thoughts about it...I completely understand.  I started brainstorming a bit more and I think I have someone who you are going to love and who is in line with my style...Once again, I thank you. It is very tricky to find someone on this kind of notice but it's SO important
to me that you are comfortable with everything.
I also thank you for being so understanding... I really appreciate that."

Sweet relief!
I can breathe again!

The new photographer she found, Amy is amazing and I am super excited to have her there as part of our day!
Here's an example of her work:

 In other news...

I woke up this morning and couldn't wait to be sippin' my iced coffee!
Grab a glass out of the cupboard, grab the ice coffee mix, and head
to the fridge for milk. And what do I find?!? We're OUT OF MILK!!
How in the heck is my day going to go on now?
I start everyday with a yummy iced coffee. Either French Vanilla
or English Toffee. Doesn't matter which one...but I NEED one of them!
No coffee for me=bad start to the day.

Moving on. Today is my hair trial. TOTALLY excited about it! Speaking of hair trail it's now 7:34am and if I don't leave now I'll be late. Crap!

**********

Alright ladies I'm back!
Three hours, a fab hair do and some errands later I am back!
I totally had to stop and get milk.
Home girl can't go with her iced coffee...I'm telling you.
It just can't happen.

So, I'm back.
Sipping on this:

With my fab hair do.
Want a lil sneak peak??
Alright, you talked me into it:

And that my friends is all I have for the day.
Have to keep running.
Wedding to plan, wedding to plan.

If You Really Knew Me

August 29, 2012

I figured instead of boring you with another wedding post today I'd share some random facts about myself. Here's my "If You Really Knew Me"

+ You'd know I'm probably the most paranoid person ever. I hear a bump outside and I'm certain someone has a gun and is going to break in. I'm definitely WAY better now than I used to be but I can not wait to get away from some of our freakish neighbors and into the country!

+ You'd know that I have the hardest time making decisions. Like I HATE making them. I don't know where that comes from but fiance is not a fan.

+ You'd know that saving money is beyond important to me! My parents always raised me to stuff money in the bank as often as possible and that's stayed with me through my crazy teen & college years.

+ You'd know that I hate paying full price for anything. Fiance refers to me as the "Target clearance whore" I literally know where they stick all the clearance in our local Target and those are the spots I check out first.

+ You'd know that I'm very insecure about me weight. I'm constantly getting people who are like "Shut up! I'd kill for your body!" which drives me nuts! Finding clothes that fit me nicely is next to impossible {unless I resort to shopping in the children section but there are far too many butterflies, glitter, and cartoons on children's clothes these days!}. Home girl wants some curves and I definitely wouldn't mind a little more junk in thee trunk.

+ You'd know I am the crabbiest person if I don't eat every couple hours. My metabolism is insane and my stomach small. Meaning I need to eat constantly in small amounts. Like seriously, you'll know when it's getting time for me to eat...
I'm a royal crab and a half.

+ You'd know that it makes me incredibly sad that I don't get to see my besties from high school everyday. Those girls are a riot and we always have TONS of fun together! I see one of them, Amanda quite frequently but it's tough getting together with the other three due to living out of town, jobs, and kids. I was so glad to see them at my bachelorette party {after not seeing them for over a year...no lie!} And I'll get to see them all again in 17 days at our wedding! :)

+ You'd know that family is the most important thing in the world to me. I'd do pretty much anything for them! And being a good wife and mommy is/will be far more important to me than my job. Don't get me wrong-I love my job but family is always numbero uno with this girl!

+ You'd know I feel my best getting 11 hours of sleep each night.
How often does that actually happen? Never.

+ You'd know I have headaches everyday. Some days they go away through out the day. Others they progress to full blown migraines. And this happens every.single.day. No doctor has been able to explain it.

+ You'd know that I really wanted to be a teacher. But finding teaching jobs around here isn't easy so I scratched that off the list.

+ You'd know that in high school I was all set to join the Air Force. {long story}

+ You'd know that I'm marrying someone I met when I was eight years old.

+ You'd know that I love decorating!

+ You'd know that Christmas is my favorite holiday. But that I hate the snow & cold that comes with it.

+ You'd know that I am so grateful for each and everyone of you!

Reception Centerpieces {Inspiration!}

With only 18 days until our wedding y'all better get ready for a massive amount of wedding coming your way! This week we'll talk about some of the details that I haven't yet shared. Sound good??

Today we'll do centerpieces.
I searched Pinterest up and down for the perfect centerpieces.
I knew right away that I wanted tons of vases and floating candles.
I had decided upon the vases with stones/gems, submerged flowers and then floating candles. Using these as my inspiration:

Last night I went about finalizing them and ordering the finishing touches.
I {of course} ended up on Pinterest again and started thinking about eliminating the flowers and stones/gems and just doing vases and floating candles. And then adding in some pillar candles as well.
Using these as inspiration:
 Whatcha think?
I think I like it even more without the flowers.
Seems more romantic and simple.
Not to mention it cuts out having to purchase the stones/gems, the flowers, keeping them looking great and all that jazz.
Making something cheaper, easier, and less time consuming is the
answer to my prayers lately!

Photographer Problems

August 27, 2012

I am freaking out here ladies.
Our photographer hired out a second photographer for our wedding as I wanted two of them there to catch everything from a couple different views. I LOVED the photographer that she hired, Thomas.
His role in the wedding was going to be shooting the guys getting ready and being at the back of the aisle during the ceremony and then shooting along side our photographer, Michelle through out the day.

Michelle emailed me today to let me know that Thomas will no longer be able to shoot the wedding as his workplace {he works as an IT guy as well} has mandatory training that day. And that he'll get fired if he's not there. She went on to explain that she secured another photographer for the day, Vince as the second photographer and was also bringing her associate, Melissa along to help out.

I asked her to send me some links to their work and for the most part I like Melissa. I keep reminding myself that she's a photographer in learning and that I need to give her a shot. But honestly I like her style of photos and editing so I'm totally good with that.

But Vince? I hate his work.
HATE it.

{Let me preface this by saying I am SO picky when it comes to photos. Especially when the photos are my wedding photos. I had my heart set on two amazing photographers to catch all the moments beautifully. It took me FOREVER to decided on a photographer in the first place and when I fell in love with both Michelle and Thomas I knew it was meant to be! And was SO excited about it!}

This Vince's photos all look WAY too edited, grainy, bad color and the people's skin looks so orange/red. I busted out crying the minute I looked at his website.
Here's some of his work:

I feel that I could do a better job than the above.
 And I'm a TOTAL beginner!

What do I do now?
Would it be completely rude to email Michelle and let her know how I feel and request that she find a different photographer? I don't want to sound like a b---h but I can not stand the thought of having half my wedding photos look like those above. Vince would be shooting all the the morning with the guys and what if I don't like any of the photos he takes of them? These aren't moments and memories that you can recreate over if you didn't like the way the photos turned out the first time...this is a one time deal.
Any help/suggestions welcomed!

Weekend Recap & Yearning For Twins

Whew! What a weekend!
Have I mentioned that I LOVE weekends away from work?
Because I do...mucho!

This weekend was a busy one but it was beyond nice & relaxing to get away from home and wedding planning for a little while!
Here's a little recap...photo style :)
1. Bulking up in CPR renewal
2. Our first wedding card! From fiance's family in Kentucky that can't make the wedding. Was SO excited to get this in the mail!
3. WAY to early to be up on a {non-working} Saturday
4. My {550 calories...aka major unhealthy guilt} lifeline for the weekend

 5. Playing with the twins. Kael & Emery
6. Rekindling my love of Malibu & Pineapple
7. Being tourists in our home state. Rained ruined our plans :(
8. No road trip is complete without checking out the Target! This one put ours to shame! And the clearance was all 70% and ours is only 30% off! Not fair!

We spent Saturday at a friends {and one of our ushers} pigging out on food, alcohol and watching movies on a 10 foot screen outside. Total blast! Some of our other friends, Jared & Vanessa came as well and brought their twins: Kael and Emery. They're almost two and WAY too much fun!
Adorable right?? So cute I think I need a set of my own.  I've always said twins {or any sets of multiples for that matter} where my nightmare. I mean honestly...who wants to listen to twice the crying and change double the diapers? Sure wasn't ever this girl!
 But being around these two? Home girl thinks she needs some. Like for real...imagine the cute photos and Halloween costumes! I'm dying with need! We're not mentioning this to fiance at all or there might not be a wedding to attend. HA! {If the above ever comes back to haunt me and I do in fact have twins I'm going to cry. As much as I entertain the idea and "cuteness" of twins I don't think I could ever do it. Scratch that. I know I could never do it}

Anyway, Sunday we drove around Madison stopping at random places. The capital, East Towne mall, and some other random stores {Target of course}. It was relaxing and fiance and I where able to talk about things other than the wedding.
Just.What.We.Needed!

Our time now is about to get really busy!
Final touches for the wedding
Finalizing wedding details
Finalizing refinancing this week {cause wedding planning wasn't enough stress}
Fiance's bachelor party
Mom & Dad's anniversary
Nephew's birthday
And before we know it {like in 19 days} our wedding day will be here!

Don't forget to enter the Wild Juniper giveaway!
The earrings are AMAZING and I can't wait to give one of you lovelies THREE pairs of your very own! The win is seriously lucky!

Friday's Letters

August 24, 2012

Dear Wedding: You're coming up so quickly and well I'm slightly nervous about getting everything done I've been much more relaxed as of late. Last night we met with our insurance agent to switch our policy over to both our names. According to our agent we're officially Mr & Mrs M! So crazy to see my new name printed all over! 22 more days! Dear Weekend: I'm excited to spend you relaxing near Madtown. One of our ushers is having a "Wisconsin Brews" get together so we're heading down there. After a quick pit stop by my seamstress to have my wedding dress bustled and pressed for the big day. We decided to spend the weekend down there for a little get away. Lord only know that we need one! Dear Hubs: I love you. I know that I tell you that all the time but it's true. I'm so excited for our wedding and to finally become your wife! I'm sure the future has tons of fun in store for us and I'm SO looking forward to sharing it all with you! Dear Wisco bloggers: We'd emailed about meeting up...whatever became of that?? Let's make it happen! Dear Face: Stop this breaking out thing. I've got a wedding to look stellar for. And a face like mine? Won't cut it. Dear work: I've seriously loved this working my actual point status thing. I don't miss those 55+ hour weeks one bit. I do however miss the paychecks. Like a lot. Dear Neighbors: How about we teach our children to be respectful? The children in our neighbor hood are dreadful. They {all 10 of them in the family} ride their bikes in the middle of the road screaming at the top of their lungs. All afternoon/evening long. Cars end up nearly hitting them and they're blowing the F-bomb at people passing by...and some of them are only 2! Redic! Dear Body: I know that you love your sleep and that the 11 hours the other night really spoiled you but we just can't do that everyday...how about we start feeling rested in the morning after 7 hours of sleep? I'd love that! Dear Back: I'm not sure what your issue is lately but not being able to walk really puts a damper on life. Plus, I've got enough things to worry about without you acting up. Dear Weather: Indecisive much? It was such lovely fall weather and I dug out all my fall decor to fit the weather. Now it's set to be 90 this weekend. Dear New Followers: Thanks for tagging along! Hope you're enjoying your stay! Make sure you enter the Wild Juniper giveaway I've got going on!

I Love Not Acting My Age & Good Barbecue

August 23, 2012

Good morning!
It's a chilly, dreary morning here in Wisco!
Good day to stay in bed all day {but then again...what day isn't?}

Yesterday my sister, Kaitlyn and one of my besties, Amanda
came over and helped work on some wedding crafts. Here's a little sneak peak:
We got quite a bit accomplished!
Only 23 {ekk} more days!

So much left to do but I know we'll get there!
We went & toured the restaurant we're having our rehearsal dinner at the other day and I have to say that I'm SO excited about it! We had a different restaurant picked out that was a better fit for the budget but ended up deciding that we should go with the one we really loved. :) The restaurant is actually a restaurant/bar/hotel so it's actually the place we'll be staying for the weekend and having our gift opening as well. It was built in 1896 and has maintained lots of the original character. The rooms are all vintage themed and have four poster beds, Tiffany lamps, hand crafted quilts with all the modern amenities. I'm obsessed with this place and so glad that we're using it for our wedding!

Next week:
Will be my hair & makeup trial
Our wedding programs will be delivered
I'll have the final fitting on my dress & have it pressed
We'll apply for our marriage license
And I'll work on confirming times/places with the vendors
Finish purchasing gifts & wrap them

Can't believe it's coming up so quickly!!
Crazy!!

If Ya Wannabe My Lover

August 22, 2012

Wednesday. Glorious, glorious hump day.
And it's my day off today. Hells yes.

Yesterday I had an eight hour work meeting. Eight hours is WAY too long to
sit and stare at power points. Made me feel like I'm straight back in nursing school and who wants to go though that crap fun again?? Not this girl!

I thought we'd take some time today to talk about a few things.
The first of which is the extension of the Wild Juniper giveaway.
I wanted to open it up for awhile longer to give more of you lovely ladies a chance to win! So here you are ladies! Enter away!
Giveaway will be open until August 29th now!

And some things that I'm loving lately.

Decorating for Fall
Fiance caught me decorating for fall and yelled at me stating that it was too early and I should take it all down. What does he know? I mean really? Men=dumb!
{And I totally need a house lookin' like that}

Iced Coffee
Oh the addiction is great! I was doing so well avoiding it all but lately I can not function without my morning dose!

The Hunger Games:
Fiance decided that he wanted to wanted to watch it and surprisingly enough I enjoyed it. I am usually not the type of person that follows all the hype...Harry Potter? Not for this girl. Twilight? Never! Now don't get me wrong...I was all over that 50 Shades business but really who could resist that?!?

Valentin Imperial Maya:
Only 26 more days til I'm enjoying your sand and sun with my new hubby!

Waffles:
If you're over from Erin's I'm sure you already heard the torture I put her through with a simple photo of my dinner. I figured I'd share it with all of you so we can all be fat and stomach happy together. Or you can all just hate me. Either way I'm down. Ha! We where gifted a waffle maker for my bridal shower and home girl is having a blast putting it to good use. This week I was all about the Apple Cinnamon waffles...delic! Fill those things with melted butter and syrup and you've got yourself a bit of heaven. Every last little square of goodness feels so bad, but it's so darn good. #worthit

Have a great day dolls!

Sometimes & Always

August 21, 2012

Sometimes: I'm SO excited to have three days off of work in a row!
Always: Something comes up. I was so excited to have today, tomorrow and Thursday off...until I remember I have an 8 hour meeting today and a 4 hour one on Thursday. Ick.
Sometimes: You find inspiration in the least expected places
Always: This weekend it was in my 38 year old patient with cancer who's disease is progressing quickly. Sweetest man ever who has been out of work since the beginning of the year and is being taken care of by his parents now, who are in their 60's. He was telling me this weekend how he had his own house, a good job & active hobbies. And now? All of that is gone. They sold his house, he's not set to return to work before 2013 and he's too weak most days to even pick up the phone. And the thing he wants most?? To return to work, even if it's only for an hour a day. He says he just wants to feel needed and productive. God bless his heart.

Sometimes: I stress out over nothing. Life is just so hectic and crazy sometimes. There are days when I'm just not sure how to deal.
Always: I remind myself of one of my favorite passages: "I know the plans I have for you" {Jeremiah 29:11} I need to slow down and remember that everything that is tossed at me isn't anything more than I can handle. I can do it. I can do it.

Sometimes: I wish I could hire a maid and a chef.
Always: I know that we'll NEVER be able to afford that!

 Sometimes: I panic.
Always: Relax Stormy, relax. It's all gonna be alright.

Sometimes: I try to avoid the giant urge I'm having to decorate for fall. I love summer but I LOVE fall decor.
Always: I try to satisfy it without looking like a fool. Last week I was itching to put out the fall decor. I decided it was a bit too early so I just put out all nine of my apple cinnamon candles.
Didn't work...fall decor is coming out this week!
#cantwaitanylonger

Booty work, Booty work, boo booty work

August 20, 2012

I am beyond stressed right now. Work has really been getting to me lately
{26 days until I get away from there for 2 weeks!}
Don't get me wrong. I love my job. I just need a break.
Putting 176% into caring for people everyday gets exhausting. Especially when you ignore your own needs in order to do so. My patient load this weekend was a little insane so I'm feeling worn out and I've still got two days left of this stretch. Whew! On top of that my migraines have kicked in again
lately and my scoliosis is dreadful.
Migraine+scoliosis pain=nausea, exhausted, can't stand to move.
Whine much Stormy?

Moving on.
I don't have a whole lot for you today.
Fiance and I spent last night working on music choices for our wedding.
I think he finally got a taste for how stressful and exhausting the process can be...and he only picked two songs! Ha! I figured today I'd share a few of our song selections with you. If you where to attend our wedding you'd hear:

And that's just a few of them. You'll more likely than not find me bustin' 10 moves on the dance floor that night. The hubs? He'll be at the bar I'm sure. And you? Well you can be bustin' it right along side me. September 15th ladies.
Book your plane tickets stat!

Dear New Followers: I am so grateful for each and everyone of you! It's so exciting to meet you and get to know you all through yours blogs! The blogging community is darn awesome! Dear Wisco: The weather is playing tricks on me I swear! It was getting chilly fall like and now we're set to be in the 70's and low 80's all week. I totally don't mind it's just that the fall decor is screaming to be put out. But if you'd like to stay in the 70's until September 16th that would be awesome. I'd like lovely weather for our wedding. After that? I don't much care cause my tush will be on the Mexico beaches! :) Dear Wedding: You care creeping up on me quickly and it's freaking me out! I'm SO excited but getting nervous to! Dear Girl Friends: I had an absolute blast with you ladies at my bachelorette party! Fall Fashion

August 16, 2012

It's been a bit chilly here in Wisco in the mornings.
It's really starting to become more like fall and less like summer.
While I am very much a lover of summer my heart is aching for all things fall.
Haunted houses, caramel apples, boots, sweaters, crunchy leaves,
sweaters, apple cider. Ahh! It all sounds so wonderful!
I'm also looking forward to fall because I'll be able to do all of those things as a new wifey. And we all know that I'm terribly excited about that!

I'm itching to get my fall shopping done but right now all the $$ is going towards the shin-dig. Boo :( This girl is ready to deck the closets with cozy clothes.
Here are some of my inspirations:

What are your autumn must haves?
I'm dying for sweaters, boots, leggings, and scarves.
Adorable and cozy.

Now to take care of a few pieces of business.

Second: As many of you know my wedding is right around the corner {ekk}
I'll be taking a little break around wedding time to do last minute details, get married, honeymoon and enjoy being a new wife. I'm looking for those interested in going guest posts for me while I'm gone...if that's you email me and let me know! I'll need quite a good number of you as I will be gone for about 2-3 weeks!
But don't worry ladies. I'll make sure to leave you in good hands.
And I'm sure I'll be posting photos to Instagram while I'm gone so if you want to follow along for some sneak peaks follow me there: stormyann22

That's it for today ladies. Fall inspiration and a little bit of business.
Tomorrow will be more fun. Promise.

Sometimes & Always

August 14, 2012

Sometimes: I try to resist my cappuccino addiction
Always: It lasts about five minutes and I'm right back to the
heavenly goodness.

Sometimes: Life rolls along so well that it seems
to good to be true
Always: Somethings happens that reminds you that life is not

sometimes. But it is always worth it, and always beautiful.
No matter the struggles.
