I'm An Impatient Girl
July 27, 2011
So...I got a call yesterday from the director on 5th floor saying she was going to call HR to have them offer me a job!! Ekk! I'm waiting for them to call now with the "official" offer. The women said she'd call me this morning but I haven't heard from her. Starting to get nervous! I'll keep you updated!

Can't believe that all the craziness is finally over!! So excited!! Now it's on to finding a job!! I applied for 6 more so far this week so I'm hoping I hear something back from one of those! :)

Sooo....I'm pretty sure that I am officially going insane! Ha! Unannounced to just about everyone in the world (with the exception of Steve, Mom, and Dad) I took my NCLEX test on Friday-July 15th. All I can say is:
HOLY STRESSFULLNESS!!
Steve and I went down to Madison on Thursday to avoid the stress of driving down there on my actual test date. I'm overly glad we did that because going through three and four lanes of of traffic is NOT my idea of relaxation! Steve slept most of the time at the hotel while I reviewed my binder full of papers, books and did some review questions online. My nerves didn't really set in until we where seated at TGI Friday's waiting for our meal...even then they where mild. All night I just kept reminding myself that "it is what it is". And that I had worked really hard for the past four years and I knew what I needed to know to take this test. I kept reminding myself of everything that I had given up to become a registered nurse (talk about a LONG list!).
So I hopped into bed around 10pm (after a glorious, long, steamy shower) hoping to get a good long night of rest. My nerves however had other plans. They kicked in full force around 11pm. Full on turning of the stomach, nausea, peeing every 3.273 minutes, forgetting information, pacing the hotel room while Steve slept NERVES! This of course caused me to totally panic and I spent most of the night tossing, turning, pacing and attempting to calm myself. Mission of good night sleep=FAILED!
Just when I was almost asleep some people found it necessary to run through the hotel halls yelling and stomping. After a good half hour of this I was furious! I wanted to stomp out there and give them a piece of my mind "Excuse me, but I'm taking the biggest test of my life tomorrow. One that I've put four years of my life into, thousands of dollars, tons of sleepless nights, and gave up my life for." I'm sure the combination of this and my still damp frizzy hair and no makeup wound have forced them back into their room rather quickly.
They must have heard my thoughts as they soon returned to their room and I didn't hear anymore screaming for the rest of the night. I finally nodded off around 1am and woke up again at 3am. I laid in bed until my alarm went off at 7am trying to convince my brain to shut the heck up so I could sleep. No luck.
Speeding ahead...I took the test. Started at 2pm. Was done, in the car at 3pm. I had around 83 questions but that may not be exact. Talk about having no idea what the answer is! Well over half my test was on medications...most medications I'd never heard of. Grand!
I am now, not so patiently awaiting my results. I'm going to pay the $8 to get my quick results but those aren't ready for 48 hours after the test...meaning I still have two hours to wait. UGH!
HURRY UP TIME!!
I've been pacing the house all morning. Last night I worked and kept loosing my train of thought and the whole night was like a blur. IF I passed my test tonight will be my last night at St. Francis Home as I can't work as a CNA once I'm licensed as a RN. I'm terribly excited about this though it means I'll be unemployed...take that bills! Ha!
I'm going to go now and attempt to find something to capture my mind for a few more hours. I'll be unsuccessful I'm sure!
